From survey to report what the data looks like, from completed answers to project decisions

A survey, on its own, is a sheet of answers. The value comes when those answers become a readable report: a picture of how the organisation works, with the numbers the project will use to size the space. Here is what that data looks like, from the completed questionnaire to the layout decisions.

From a sheet of answers to a picture

Hundreds of individual answers say nothing until they are aggregated. The report gathers the teams' typical day and makes it visible: how much time goes to focus, how much to collaboration, how much presence there is on site, where friction arises. It is the step from a list to an image you can decide on.

SURVEY REPORT — EXAMPLE HOW TIME IS SPENT Focus 42% Collaboration 27% Meetings 20% Breaks 11% PROJECT FIGURES Desk sharing ratio 1:1.4 Recommended workstations 64 Estimated area ~930 m²
Illustrative example: the distribution of time becomes desk sharing ratio, workstations and square metres

The numbers that become a project

From the picture come the quantities the layout is built on. The distribution of time indicates how much space to give to individual work and how much to shared work; on-site presence determines the desk sharing ratio and the number of workstations; the BOMA standard turns everything into objectively measured square metres. The report does not stay a document: it becomes the project brief.

Why data must be read, not just collected

The same numbers, without a point of comparison, remain ambiguous. A focus share of 42% only means something when set against a benchmark of similar projects. This is the work of the ARCHIlabs data-reading software, built over more than twenty years and 2.7 million square metres: it places the answers within a body of references and draws well-founded choices from them, not impressions.

A readable report is the bridge between the survey and the site: it turns people's answers into the numbers you design the space on.
